Downtown Riverfront Park

September 17, 2025

Riverfront park officially opened to the public in August, and had their grand opening this past weekend. While my kids and I were unable to make it to the grand opening ceremony, we were able to visit the park and had so much fun! At first sight the park seemed small with not much to offer, but that’s where I was wrong. There was so much to do and see and both my girls had so much fun! Defintently a must see park!

Located near 5th street market and the river, it was a perfect location for a small park for kids of all ages to enjoy. We parked a bit ways away because I wanted to walk (sorry kids exercise time!), we were able to take the bike path the whole walk.

Once we got there my kids instantly started exploring. They started climbing up the poles, exploring the logs, climbing the ropes and climbing over the dome. We pretended we got stuck in a whirl pool in the “water”. The lily pads added a fun balance challenge for all of us.

The small animals hiding around the logs were a cute added feature to play hide and seek with. The day we visited it was slightly overcast but that didn’t stop my daughters from wanting to play in the 3(!!!) different water areas.

Of course as a mom, I enjoyed seeing the water fountain to refill our water bottles and bathroom. There was amble seating and small trees that should produce some nice shade next summer. I cannot wait to return next summer on a warm day, have a picnic and enjoy the park again.
