Helping Kids Build Confidence, Boundaries & Big-Feeling Skills

As parents, we all want our kids to feel safe, confident, and supported as they grow — but sometimes the skills they need most are the ones that can feel hardest to teach.

That’s where Trauma In Form, LLC comes in.

Trauma In Form is a child-centered, trauma-informed empowerment program for elementary and middle school-aged kids. Through community-based workshops, kids learn age-appropriate tools to better understand their emotions, trust their instincts, set boundaries, and ask for help from safe adults.

And I really love this part: the goal is confidence, not fear.

Upcoming September Workshops

Trauma In Form has two hands-on workshops coming up this September for moms and elementary-aged kids. Each workshop is offered on two different dates, so families can choose the session that works best for them.

Keeping It Regulated

A moms-and-kids workshop focused on understanding and regulating emotions. Families will explore what dysregulation can feel like, why it happens, and practical ways to help our bodies and brains feel regulated again.

Choose from:
Sunday, September 20 • 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
OR
Tuesday, September 29 • 4:30–6:30 p.m.

The workshop will include arts, crafts, activities, and practical tools families can use together.

Inside Out and Our Feelings

Using the emotions from Inside Out as inspiration, moms and kids will spend time exploring big feelings together through a movie, snacks, arts and crafts, and activities focused on joy, sadness, fear, anger, and disgust.

Choose from:
Tuesday, September 22 • 4:30–7:30 p.m.
OR
Saturday, September 26 • 2–5 p.m.

Both workshops:

Sliding scale: $40–$60 per family

What Kids Will Learn

Depending on the workshop and age group, kids may work on skills like:

  • Naming and expressing emotions
  • Recognizing body cues and trusting their instincts
  • Identifying safe and unsafe behaviors
  • Practicing healthy coping and self-regulation tools
  • Setting and respecting personal boundaries
  • Using assertive communication
  • Understanding consent in age-appropriate ways
  • Asking trusted adults for help
  • Building confidence and self-esteem
  • Learning basic personal safety awareness

Older kids may also learn age-appropriate ways to recognize manipulation or coercion, while also learning how to support friends safely without feeling like they have to fix everything themselves.

What Parents Should Know

There are a few things Trauma In Form really wants parents to understand:

This program is about prevention.
Kids learn how to recognize unsafe behaviors, trust their instincts, set boundaries, and ask safe adults for help.

It is not about fear.
The focus is on confidence, communication, self-worth, and emotional safety.

Everything is taught through a trauma-informed lens.
Kids are never blamed for what has happened to them or what they have experienced. The program centers safety, choice, connection, and empowerment.

Where Classes Are Held

September workshops will be hosted at Facing Giants, 576 Olive Street, Suite 300.

Cost

Workshops are offered on a $40–$60 sliding scale per family. Trauma In Form has shared that no child will be turned away due to cost.

There may also be future workshop and class opportunities for local families, including additional emotional regulation, feelings, and personal safety programming.
